02 December 2009New EMS Facility Planned
Planning has begun for the construction of a new emergency medical service (EMS) station for Community Rescue Service's Maugansville ambulance. CRS' Maugansville ambulance is currently housed out of the Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company's station. A committee has been formed and is completing the final search and selection of property which could be used to construct this much needed EMS station. The operation of a CRS ambulance in the Maugansville area has been in existence since the early 1980's under a cooperative relationship and agreement with the Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Department. The two organizations (CRS and Maugansville Fire) realized in the early 1980's that an ambulance responding from the Maugansville area would greatly enhance EMS service delivery for the citizens in, and around, the Maugansville area. Today, due to increases in call volumes (fire and EMS), the need exist to increase the housing and working spaces for both departments. The EMS call volumes have increased to the point that planning must begin to provide housing for a second ambulance in the Maugansville area. Community Rescue Service has been financially planning for this project for the past several years and is now ready to begin work its work. The leadership of the Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company and Community Rescue Service are working hard to address the long term needs of both departments as well as the citizens of the Maugansville area. The hopes are to have a final site selected and approved for construction in early 2010.
