CRS teams up with the Hagerstown Fire Department

Community Rescue Service has teamed up with the Hagerstown Fire Department in an effort to make the community a safer place. CRS and HFD are doing Home Safety Makeovers for Senior Citizens that live in the city limits who are at risk of slips, trips, and falls. This is in response to a study preformed by the Hagerstown Fire Department and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The study focused on preventable injuries and the number of fall related and medication oriented injuries.

The program is the result of a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and a block grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This provides an in-home consultation from one of our Home Safety Makeover specialists who will assess your need for new stair rails or grab bars in your bathrooms and other areas of your home. Given the fact that the money for this program comes from a grant ALL SERVICES ARE FREE!!!!!!!

To qualify you:

1.     Should be over the age of 65. ( if you are close call us anyway, the team will do a visit and a needs assessment for you to see you qualify)
2.   Must own your home or have rented the same place for over 5 years
3.     MUST live in the city limits.
